Jen DeVoe, CEO and principal of White Horse
Jen DeVoe, CEO and principal of White Horse, is guiding the company’s development as a nationally recognized provider of strategic Internet professional services. A certified public accountant with 12 years of experience in corporate management, DeVoe joined White Horse Studios in 1998 as general manager. In 2000, when she had an opportunity to purchase the company, DeVoe led a private investment group in its acquisition, changing the name to White Horse.
As company principal, she has been instrumental in developing long-term partnerships with clients such as Diner’s Club, Cisco Systems, Celestial Seasonings and Nautilus. Under DeVoe’s management, the company has grown from a small, local Portland-based business into a nationally recognized full-service interactive agency. In both 2004 and 2005, DeVoe was named to Portland Business Journal’s Forty Under 40, a list that honors people in business based on professional accomplishment, community involvement and professional recognition.
Prior to joining White Horse DeVoe held leadership positions with Coopers and Lybrand in Los Angeles (now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC) and Levi Strauss in San Francisco. As GM and CFO of Rapak, a Hayward, California manufacturer of packaging systems, DeVoe was responsible for all aspects of the plant’s operation including financial forecasting and planning. She was instrumental in designing, developing and negotiating long-term sourcing contracts for clients including PepsiCo, Inc. and The Coca-Cola Company. She also implemented a number of cost-saving initiatives, including production-tracking methodologies, purchasing consolidation, and the integration of manufacturing systems reports with data reporting software to generate real-time production statistics. After five years with the company, DeVoe was instrumental in completing its sale to a Chicago-based public corporation.
In 1997, DeVoe was named CFO of a Portland, Oregon, financial communications agency. She saw the company through a year of 125 percent growth and developed client relationships with some of the nation’s leading financial companies, including GE Financial Services, MetLife, and US Bank, championing the development of interactive and online marketing products.
