Hal Alpiar, MBA, is president/CEO of BUSINESSWORKS, a management and marketing consulting firm he founded in 1978, specializing in sales development of, and consumer applications to, healthcare and technically-based businesses.
A nationally-known counselor to doctors, entrepreneurs, and top corporate executives for over 25 years, he was also founding executive director of the Pennsylvania Heart Institute, and founding trustee of the Ocean County First Aid Training Academy. He has worked closely with over 1,000 physicians as a personal counselor and business consultant.
Prior to his consulting career, Hal was an executive and creative director with three of Madison Avenue's "Top 10" ad agencies, where his work consistently produced record-breaking sales, totaling over $1 billion. He was also voted "Professor of the Year" on two different campuses where he served as assistant professor of both business and psychology, and built New Jersey's smallest business internship program (12 students) into the State's largest (600 students) in 18 months.
He is the author of DOCTOR BUSINESS... How To Boost Practice Growth And Strengthen Long-Term Relationships (PMIC), for physicians, and DOCTOR SHOPPING... How To Choose The Right Doctor For You And Your Family (HIP), for healthcare consumers, winner of the National Health Information Book Award.
An active member of the Public Affairs Committee of NCQHC (The National Committee for Quality Health Care, Washington. DC) for the past four years, he is an active member of the Internet Content Credibility Committee of the AIM Council for Interactive Healthcare, and serves as Senior Advisor to Future Now, Inc. (www.futurenowinc.com), Internet sales conversion specialists, to VENTEX, LLC. (www.ventexfabrics.com), specialty health and safety fabrics manufacturing, and he is a partner in the launch of a new UK-based solutions consulting firm, HealthCareWorks, LLC.
He holds a BBA from Iona College, an MBA from Long Island University, and has completed coursework for an MA in human development. He is a graduate of the 4A's Institute for Advanced Advertising Studies, and the New School for Entrepreneurs.
Formerly Editor-in-Chief for Business Talk magazine (100,000 readership base of business owners and managers), he also wrote, produced, hosted and broadcast over 700 daily feature "BUSINESSWORKS ON THE AIR" radio shows for business owners and managers, and conducted over 2,000 skill and business development training seminars, workshops, and focus groups (for which he also authored original curricula) for business owners, corporate executives and entrepreneurs. He served two consecutive 2-year terms as a federal appointee to the SBA Advisory Council representing NY, NJ, CT and the BVI.
He has written hundreds of print articles and scores of online columns and feature articles, including a column for the leading Internet magazine, ClickZ. He is currently the exclusive representative of The Weill Medical College of Cornell University (and world's only) customized and personalized online and print health newsletter, HealthLine. Hal is a scheduled "human resources" presenter and panelist for the Internet Marketing Conference on April 3-5 at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC.
